Quick start guide
The steps to getting started depend on your network configuration. Once networking is configured and you can browse to the camera, then learn how to use the edgertronic Web UI.
Replace 10.11.12.13 with the IP address being used by your camera.
Connecting a single camera directly to a laptop
- Configure host PC networking for address 10.11.12.1
- Enable browser video player, enable javascript, enable cookies, and set security level to allow connections to local device without going though a proxy.
- Attach lens
- Insert Secure Digital SD card - label faces outward
- Connect Ethernet cable between host PC and camera
- Connect power
- Wait for system LED (one farthest from power jack) to turn solid yellow
- Browse to camera at address http://10.11.12.13 Please use the Google Chrome browser. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge and Safari are NOT supported.
- Accept End User License Agreement, click I agree, then and review software changes, and press the OK button.
- Hover the mouse over the elements in the browser window for a short description. A full Web user interface description is available in the not-so-quick start guide, also know as the 200+ pages of edgertronic camera documentation.
- Adjust exposure and camera settings. Can't see anything? Open up aperture and/or add brighter lights.
- Capture video using Web UI,external trigger, or multi-function button.
- You can browse to the part of the root file system, called static by browsing to http://10.11.12.13/static replacing 10.11.12.13 with your camera's IP address as necessary.
You can see the list of saved video files and related metadata file file by browsing to the link /static/mnt, clicking on directory sdcard or usb and videos and metadata file are stored in the directory DCIM (/static/mnt/sdcard/DCIM or /static/mnt/usb/DCIM).
You will find the camera log file at the link /static/log/messages.
Ad-hoc connecting 2 or more cameras to a laptop
- Follow the above instructions for each additional camera EXCEPT:
- You'll need to buy an Ethernet Switch, such as the TP-Link 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch.
- You'll need to assign different and unique static IP address to each additional camera

Connecting one or more cameras to existing DHCP network
An existing network infrastructure is one with a DHCP server that gives all the devices, including your edgertronic cameras, IP addresses. In order to use your cameras, you need to figure out what IP address is assigned to each camera.
- In your browser, if necessary, enable video player, enable javascript, and set the security level to allow connections to local device without going through a proxy.
- Attach lens
- Insert Secure Digital SD card - label faces outward
- Connect Ethernet cable between modem and camera
- Connect power
- Wait for system LED (one farthest from power jack) to be solid blue
- Remove the SD card from the camera and look for a file that contains the IP address of the camera, replace SD card.
- Browse to camera's IP address. Please use the Google Chrome browser. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge and Safari are NOT supported.
- Hover the mouse over the elements in the browser window for a short description. A full Web user interface description is available in the not-so-quick start guide, also known as the 200+ pages of edgertronic camera documentation.

If your network uses DHCP to assign IP addresses, and you need a predictable IP address, you're in luck! On the back of the camera, you'll find that we prominently engraved the camera's MAC Address. This lets you follow the industry DHCP standard and assign a DHCP Address Reservation based on the device's MAC Address. Once the address reservation is in place, the DHCP server will assigned the IP address to each camera based on the unique MAC address. The steps to enter an Address Reservation into your DHCP server's database is dependent on the DHCP server being used.
